How to verify a lawyer before hiring
- 1
Ask for name and license number
Ask for the lawyer's full name and license number. A real lawyer has a Lawyers Council membership card showing a license number in the form "number/Buddhist year", e.g. 12345/2550.
- 2
Search on this page
Enter the license number or full name above. We search lawyers registered with Lawslane and names collected from Lawyer Registration Office announcements.
- 3
Confirm with the Lawyers Council
If the name is not found or you are unsure, check directly with the Lawyers Council of Thailand, the body that licenses lawyers.
Warning signs the lawyer may not be real
- Refuses to give a license number or show a Lawyers Council card
- Guarantees you will win, or claims to "know people in court"
- Pushes for a large transfer right away with no engagement contract or receipt
- Asks you to pay into someone else's bank account
- Only reachable by chat, with no verifiable office or address
Frequently asked questions
Where can I check a lawyer's name?
+
Search for free on this page by name or license number, and confirm officially with the Lawyers Council of Thailand, which issues lawyer licenses.
If I can't find the lawyer, are they fake?
+
Not necessarily. The Lawslane database does not cover every lawyer yet, especially those licensed long ago. Check with the Lawyers Council before drawing conclusions.
Where do I find a lawyer's license number?
+
On the lawyer's license or Lawyers Council membership card, in the form "number/Buddhist year". A real lawyer should show it when asked.
What is the difference between a lifetime and a two-year license?
+
A two-year license must be renewed on schedule; a lifetime license does not need renewal. Both allow practice unless suspended or struck off.
Where does this data come from?
+
From lawyers registered with Lawslane and names collected from Lawyer Registration Office announcements of the Lawyers Council. Results from announcements always show the date and a link to the original.
How do I correct or remove my own data?
+
Contact the Lawslane team through our Help Center and we will review your request.
